Ace: Week Nine, Day Two

Awesome-ness:  *moment of silence as mourn for Jesse Black*

Jesse spent the morning working out.  He was really excited about his new strength training program that he had started.  Nothing like exercise to blow off a little steam, he thought as he ran through the exercises.

He might've been huffing and puffing a little bit more than usual...

Ace headed down the stairs, humming under his breath.  He was going to ask Dad if he wanted to go check out a movie with him today, just the two of them.  The boys were in school and the house being silent was killing him!

"Hey Dad..." Ace started to say, but never went any further.

Right before his eyes, his Dad collapsed to the floor.  Ace flipped open his phone and called for the paramedics and then ran over to try CPR.

But nothing helped... his Dad was gone...

And Ace never got to tell him goodbye...

Holly hurried home from work the moment Ace called to tell her the awful news.  She just didn't believe it.  He'd been so healthy!  Squeezing her eyes shut, she winced.  All except for licking those damn dirty plates clean!  His laughing remark, "It ain't killed me yet," echoed in her mind.

She gazed at the picture they'd taken on the boys birthday and thought absently about how glad she was they'd gotten one last picture together as a family.

He looked so happy, she thought sadly.

Just then, the door flew open and Bethany came in with tears running down her face.  "Is it true, Mama?  I just heard...”

Holly opened her arms to her daughter and Bethany launched herself into her mother's arms.  Holly wrapped her arms around her daughter and stroked her back, resting her cheek against Bethany's hair.  Bethany had always been a Daddy's girl...

Preparations for Jesse's funeral were underway.

Holly set up a buffet, as well as a table with Jesse's remains and the recent photo of the family.  She invited over friends and family to share their memories of Jesse.

She absently stared at the painting she'd made of him for his last birthday...

Oh God, how am I going to do this? she thought, sobbing uncontrollably.

Ace had to be strong right now.  His family members needed him.  Losing Dad left big holes in all their hearts.  He tried to talk to each of his boys to help console them and help them cope with their Grandpa passing away.

He found his sister in Dad's room.  "Hey," he said, trying to cheer her up.  It's going to be okay, squirt."

Bethany just shook her head as she cried.

Ace stroked her arm.  "If it gets too hard at any point, just take a breather? Okay?"  It killed him, but he had to leave her to go check on Holly...

He found her downstairs crying softly in front of Dad's urn.  Without hesitation he pulled her into his arms.  "It's going to be okay, Hol."

Then the guests began to slip in.

Ace had been surprised when Tracy Seaman, Dad's boss, showed up.  She made a beeline straight over to him and handed him a flower arrangement.
"I know this is a very difficult time for your family.  But, I just wanted to let you know that if there's anything the Warehouse could do to help, just let us know."

Ace nodded  "Thanks, Tracy.  Thanks for thinking of us," he said somberly.  Glancing towards the door, he saw his mom walk through the door.  "Will you excuse me?  I need to greet the other guests," he said reluctantly.

He didn't know how to explain it, but there had been some sort of spark between him and Tracy...

"Mom!" Ace said, hugging his mother.  "I'm so glad you came!"

Zelda smiled sadly and awkwardly patted Ace's arm.  “Well, we've all got to go sometime, right?” she said softly, staring sadly at the urn.

Ace saw past his mom's flippant remark and squeezed her hand.  Her and Dad had never quite made it back to friends, but he knew she'd miss him.

Tracy approached Holly and patted her shoulder.  "I've already told Ace, but if there's anything I can do, please let me know," she said, wiping a tear from her eye.  "The Warehouse just isn't going to be the same without him..."

Ace drew everyone's attention.  "If everyone would please look this way, I'd like to say a few words," Ace said.

Ace glanced down at the urn and felt the ache in his heart.  "Dad was a Prince among Thieves, the best there was!  He had a temper that burned hot if you got on his wrong side, but he was solid as a rock!  We love you Dad!"
Ace pulled out his guitar and started to play Pa Fights the Bear in tribute to his Dad.
There wasn't a dry eye in the house...

Bethany pushed her way outside and sucked in deep breaths of fresh air.  This was too hard!

Sadly, she slumped down on Dad's couch.  Mom had wanted room for everyone to gather in the living room and moved it out on the patio.  She absently ran her hands on the cushions.  It wasn't right.  It should be inside.

"Hey, how are you doing?" Topher said, sitting down next Bethany.  He had seen her run from the room and followed after her.

"This sucks, Topher. It sucks big time!" Bethany said.  "He just can't be gone!"  It was all too much, she started to cry.

Topher's heart broke to see his friend hurting so much.  He reached out and pulled her into his arms to comfort her...

...but somehow they'd wound up making out...

  1. :'( R.I.P. Jesse you will be sorely missed. Gosh it didn't seem like he wasnt even in his elder stage for long before he past away.

Aww Bethany and Topher, he was there for her in such a sad moment and even gave her lip service. :)

    1. I was *not* ready for Jesse to die!

And I LOVE Bethany & Topher together. They're so cute! :)

  2. The downside to playing legacies, saying goodbye to a beloved sim. :(

Topher and Bethany are adorable together. =)

    1. Topher & Bethany were destined since I found him playing in the park with his Imaginary Friend!

  3. Awww. ;_: *sniff* Goodbye, Jesse.

  4. Jesse, no! ;__; I was so very fond of him and his temper! :(

    1. Jesse was my favorite founder ever! I've definitely missed his temper & addiction to tattoos! Poor Ace is really having to step into the "man of the house" role.
