Ace: Week Ten, Day Four

Awesome-ness: Ace continues awesome mid-life crisis fling with Staci McCarthy...

All Ace knew was that the attention and fawning from Staci felt awesome.  He has felt a twinge of guilt the day before when he made out with Staci in the practice room.

But he hadn't made any promises to Tracy and it wasn't like he was married...

But if he wanted to date 5 women at one time – well then he should do it! He'd worked hard all his life & look where it had gotten him - a single dad at 19!

Hell, he'd flirt with the maid if he wanted to!

Ace pulled out the guitar in front of the theatre and started to play.  It wasn't long before he'd attracted some attention, but that was okay.  He was getting used to being a minor celebrity in town.

Staci said that she'd meet him here before work.  She'd told him that she needed more practice and wanted some one-on-one time with him...

"Ace!" she called cheerfully as she approached.

Ace put the guitar away and the crowd began to disperse.

She stepped into his arms and gave him a peck on the cheek.  "Thanks for agreeing to meet with me!" she told him.  "I can't wait to practice!"

Ace grinned cockily.  "Do you want to do it right now?" he asked huskily.

"Oh do you mind?" Staci gushed, grabbing his hand and leading him to the practice room.

Ace settled on the couch and grinned up at Staci, then felt confusion when she pulled her guitar out and sat down across from him.

"I'm so excited to get some one-on-one time with you!  I've been listening to your music since I was a kid!" she told him excitedly.

"I thought you meant..." Ace closed his eyes and shook his head with chagrin.  Wow, way to make him feel old...

Staci cocked her head and poised her fingers over the strings of her guitar.  "You thought what?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.  "That just because we fooled around yesterday that I'd..." she waved a hand towards the couch.

"No!" Ace said quickly.  "Of course not!"  Heat stained his cheeks when he thought about the assumptions he made, especially when Staci was glaring at him.  He looked down and avoided looking at Staci, determined to make it through the practice set semi-professionally...

After their practice was over, Ace walked Staci out to her car.  "I'll see you later," he said, tapping the hood of her car.

Staci grinned back up at him.  "Don't forget you promised to talk to the owners about giving me that solo we talked about.  You know, since you practically own the place!" (Became partner at the theater)

Ace shifted uncomfortably as he watched her drive off.  He blew out a breathe and sighed.  The more time he spent with Staci, the more it seemed she liked what he could do for her.  He guessed it made sense. Why else would a 19-year old be interested in a single dad pushing 40?

"Ace! I'm glad I caught you!" he heard from behind him.

Ace turned around and saw Tracy standing there grinning at him.  "Tracy! What are you doing here?" he asked, startled.  Geez, minutes earlier and she would've caught him red-handed.

"Well, you said you had to go in early to help your co-worker practice their set, but I thought I'd surprise you after your performance!"  Laughing, she threw herself into his arms and hugged him, then slowly pulled away when he didn't hug her back.

"What is it?" she asked, seeing the look on his face.

Ace's stomach dropped.  The guilt hit him square in the stomach and made him feel queasy as hell.  "Tracy... look... we need to talk..."

  1. Heh, Ace sewing his wild oats at a late stage huh? I can't blame him really...

  2. Well, at least he's man enough to spit it out.

    1. Darn mid-life crisis! He's rolling wants to flirt with EVERYONE!
